Opening July 4 until September 13, 2015, Fundación Proa presents for the first time in Argentina the Daros Latinamerica Collection, an exhibition that brings together a wide selection of pieces by Latin American artists.

Curated by Katrin Steffen and Rodrigo Alonso, the exhibition includes of drawings, sculptures, paintings, objects, installations, videos and site-specific pieces that presenting a comprehensive and contemporary outlook of the new generation’s Latin American artists.

Geopolitical tensions, public and private violence, resistances and utopias, and human body as social conflict, are some of the topics addressed by the chosen pieces, carefully selected aiming to transform the exhibition space as a subject of analysis and debate.

The artists included in this exhibition provide a unique view of Latin American’s art development in the recent decades. Due to the relevance of the pieces presented, this exhibition stands as unique opportunity to appreciate the main guidelines, both formal and conceptual, that are found today in Latin American artists.

The Daros Latinamerica Collection has one of the largest directories of Latin American art world. Its contemporary criteria departs from the regionalist and traditional dialogs offering an overview of reflective and critical productions, aligned with the best of contemporary art. The pieces that partake of it respond to these curatorial criteria rather than to an institutional legitimacy or market-related influence. Thus, the collection embodies a partial but significant view of the most interesting art of the region.
