The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, one of the most prestigious art institution in Canada, seeks a Curator of Contemporary International Art (1945 to today).
Reporting to the Director and Chief Curator, the candidate will:
–Undertake scholarly research in his/her area of expertise
–Establish and pursue contacts with collectors, artists, galleries, universities and institutions to enrich the collections
–Propose acquisition programmes for the collections for which he/she is responsible
–Participate, in accordance with management, in the development, preparation and production of temporary exhibitions featuring the collections and the contemporary scene
–Establish and maintain communication with various organizations on the local and international scenes
–Carry out research in his/her area of expertise for publication in scholarly and/or cultural journals or other pertinent publications
Profile
–Minimum of an MA degree—PhD an asset—in art history or a related field with a specialization in contemporary international art
–At least eight years’ experience in a museum, research and publications in contemporary international art
–Very good knowledge of the cultural milieu
–Interest in emerging contemporary scenes (other continents and world cultures)
–Aptitudes for research and writing
–Fluency in French and English, spoken and written
–Sound knowledge of the Office suite 2013
