The Biennale of Sydney is working with global recruitment agency Korn Ferry to recruit a new Chief Executive Officer.
Since its inception in 1973, the Biennale of Sydney has provided an international platform for innovative and challenging contemporary art, showcasing the work of nearly 1,700 artists from more than 100 countries. Today it ranks as one of the leading international festivals of contemporary art and is widely respected for working with independent artistic directors to exhibit prescient themes and artists.
The Chief Executive Officer works closely with the Biennale’s Board, driving the artistic and commercial success of the organisation. The position is responsible for identifying new sources of revenue and maintaining and expanding existing funding relationships. Candidates will have a strong reputation and track record in running a complex arts organisation, with experience in reporting to a Board and working with government funding bodies.
The successful applicant will have knowledge of the visual arts and festival environments, and be a creative and strategic thinker with exceptional business acumen and a collaborative approach. Strong communication skills are essential, as is the ability to lead, manage and enhance the capability of an effective team, and build credibility across a variety of stakeholders.
