Chairperson of Creative Arts Therapy Department
The Creative Arts Therapy Department, one of the oldest in the country, was founded by one of the pioneers of Art Therapy, Arthur Robbins. Housed in the School of Art, the department offers two graduate degrees: an MPS in Art Therapy & Creativity Development and an MS in Dance/Movement Therapy, both in two formats: traditional two year and Low Residency adult learning model.
The successful candidate will assume academic and administrative leadership of the department. Responsibilities include developing initiatives to complement, enhance and build upon the prestige of both graduate programs and raising the visibility of the Creative Arts Department within Pratt and the larger community. Candidates must hold a Masters or Doctoral degree in Dance/Movement Therapy, be a Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist and be licensed, or licensure eligible as a Creative Arts Therapist in New York State.
Assistant Professor—Industrial Design
We seek applicants with a broad vision of the future of the design field and the ability to articulate that vision. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of design theory and research, embrace systems thinking and the interdisciplinary nature of design, and be committed to sustainability and social innovation. Engagement in scholarly and professional work and willingness to participate in collaborative projects with other disciplines within the Institute are essential.
Assistant/Associate Professor—Undergraduate and Graduate Communications Design—2 positions
The ideal candidate will have expertise in the practice, theory and history of communications design and demonstrate commitment to curricular development and pedagogical innovation, as well as the ability to teach across a wide range of courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Professional or scholarly focus may include a broad set of interests and applications within graphic design, illustration, package design and related disciplinary practices, including but not limited to: interaction/experiential design, creative coding, transdisciplinary design, speculative design, digital storytelling, networked communications and augmented/virtual reality.
