HEAD – Genève, School of Art and Design, invites applications for the position of HES Part-time Lecturer in Painting/Drawing, Department of Fine Arts—Representation BA major.

Highly involved in the cultural life of the city, HEAD – Genève is a major art and design school in Switzerland with an internationally renowned profile. The school’s Fine Arts Department features five BA options and three MA specialisations. A series of theoretical and technical courses complements these. The Representation BA option (painting, drawing, installation) addresses contemporary approaches to painting and drawing beyond the easel. Through a series of workshops, this option fosters daily creation and theoretical reflection, offering a broad understanding of art and images that are considered in their cultural, social and political context.

Employment rate: 30% to 50% depending on the availability of the applicant

Main features of the position:
–Teach BA students in the Representation major, with a focus on painting and drawing in the context of contemporary art.
​–Transmit practical and conceptual knowledge.
​–Monitor students’ work in the workshop throughout the BA cycle: years 1, 2 and 3 until graduation.
​–Design, prepare and monitor artistic and cultural projects in association with the teaching staff (workshops, lectures, exhibitions, publications).
​–Participate in mid-term evaluations and graduation juries.

Profile:
–Bachelor’s degree in the field of fine arts. National or international artistic fame is recognised as equivalent to the degree required.
​–Active professionally in an artistic field relating to painting and drawing.
​–Good knowledge of the international contemporary arts scene.
​–Capacity to lead students towards artistic research that explores the potential of painting and drawing techniques in relation to the wider field of contemporary art.
​–Proficient in English
​–Good team worker
