Songe d’une nuit d’été (Midsummer night’s dream)
Collections of Frac Poitou-Charentes, Pays de la Loire, Centre
March–November 2014
From March to November, 15 venues will play host to the collections of the Frac Centre, Frac Pays de la Loire and Frac Poitou-Charentes, alongside new offerings, in an ambitious circuit that blends contemporary art and heritage.
This second edition of the Songe d’une nuit d’été (Midsummer Night’s Dream) initiative—a circuit launched in 2012—spans multiple thematic approaches in a series of exhibitions throughout the region. They bring together a body of artworks that offers a look at facets of reality, giving rise to meaningful one-on-one encounters, conversations and dialogues.
The strength of the artworks lies in astute alliances: landscape linked with industry, progress with history, architecture with experimentation, language with representation, frailty with power, reality with imagination, memory with narration, poetry with humour. The dissemination of the works helps to enhance the profile and prestige of exceptional heritage sites, marked by their unique history and architecture.
