Lead the vision and enhance the world-class cultural reputation of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
We are looking for the next world-class Director of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki—New Zealand’s largest and most inspiring visual arts experience. Our Gallery is an art museum of regional, national and international standing. Our newly developed building opened in September 2011 and has been recognised worldwide, winning 17 prestigious design and architecture awards and firmly cementing the building as one of New Zealand’s architectural and cultural landmarks.
As Director, you will be responsible for animating our iconic building with a dynamic programme of exhibitions that bring people to the Gallery in larger numbers than ever before. As the Gallery’s main ambassador to the community, as well as the wider art world nationally and internationally, you will act as its ‘face and voice.’
To be considered for this outstanding opportunity, you will have considerable experience in a senior management role within an art museum environment, and be highly regarded in the art community nationally and internationally. You will demonstrate a flair for public speaking and offer sophisticated influencing, advocacy and negotiation skills.
