BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary is a space for contemporary art and its concerns. Building on a nearly forty-year history of exhibitions, BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary will expand its focus and address those questions about the future that confront art, design, architecture and urbanism in a similar way as they do science, politics and social theory. The new programming at BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary will be undertaken by a biennially alternating head of programming in consultation with an international Advisory Board.

Position
Head of Programming 2013–2015 (Contract period: 1 July 2013 to 30 September 2015)
–Ÿ The head of programming, in dialogue with the BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary Advisory Board, develops the thematic focus for the period of September 2013 through June 2015.
Ÿ On the basis of the above, the head of programming plans, develops and produces a high-quality, internationally oriented exhibition and events program for the period of their appointment.
The head of programming develops content for information and communication activities.
The head of programming develops innovative, thematic forms of art and knowledge presentation and drafts model education and communication measures to reach new audiences.
The head of programming serves as editor for accompanying publication and documentation activities.
The head of programming represents the program to target groups and the general public.
The head of programming internationally positions BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary in a network of partnerships and collaborations.
The head of programming directs the production process and is responsible for compliance with the project budget.

Requirements
Ÿ In addition to a relevant education, the applicants or applicant teams must have several years of internationally oriented practical experience as curators, heads of programming or directors in one or more of the following areas of contemporary cultural production:

Visual arts & interdisciplinary practice
Performance and theatrical practice
Architecture and urbanism
Design and visual communication
Media and new cultural technologies
Cultural studies and the humanities

The applicants or applicant teams must be interested in interdisciplinary, thematic project formats as well as innovative forms of art, culture and knowledge communication and must be capable of independently designing, supervising as well as organizationally and cost-consciously implementing interdisciplinary programs.
The applicants or applicant teams must have at their disposal an outstanding international network, with connections in particular to those individuals likely to shape their respective fields of work in the coming years.
The applicants or applicant teams must have experience in the management and assembly of project-specific production teams.
The applicants or applicant teams must have published at a high level and have experience in the production of publications and communication via digital media.
The applicants or applicant teams must have sufficient resources to allocate at least 50 percent of their time to the advertised position in Vienna.
BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary is an internationally oriented working environment in Vienna. In addition to perfect spoken and written English, German language skills are of advantage.

Offer
BAWAG P.S.K. Contemporary offers the opportunity to develop an ambitious two-year program at a renowned Viennese exhibition space.

Annual salary (pre-tax): Eur 54,000/year (Additional travel and research budget)
Additional compensation commensurate with experience is possible.
