The Art Gallery of New South Wales is pleased to announce its contemporary art exhibitions for 2013. We used to talk about love presents work by 11 artists who deal with the vexed terrain of the body and desire, ideas of solitude and togetherness, archives of feeling, and the disintegration of romantic ideals. In The space between us, 7 invited artists present works that test physical and psychological boundaries with challenging feats, exercises in endurance and the construction and performance of social situations.

For this year’s AGNSW Contemporary Projects series, Tony Albert exhibits a major wall installation, forming the third part of a trilogy series; Agatha Gothe-Snape and Sriwahana Spong respectively investigate the body in relation to context, and the interplay between choreography and improvisation; Alex Kershaw will premiere a new video installation filmed during a recent residency in Tokyo; and Lucas Ihlein & Ian Milliss present the The Yeomans Project.

In addition to our collection-based exhibitions, this year’s programme of contemporary art would not have been possible without the generous support of the Balnaves Foundation, UBS, Sophie Landa and Andrew & Cathy Cameron.
