The Stiftung Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen—a foundation under private law—is present at two locations in Düsseldorf: the K20 and the K21. An internationally renowned institution with approximately 100 staff members and a special responsibility toward the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Stiftung preserves, administers, researchers, and educates the public about the inventory of artworks owned by NRW and the collections owned by the foundation itself, and makes them publicly accessible through permanent and temporary exhibitions in national and international contexts.
At the earliest possible date, we are searching for a research staff member/curator (m/f/d) for our Research Department.
Your tasks
-Scholarly and strategic conceptualization and implementation of exhibitions in coordination with the director of the Kunstsammlung
-Preparation of scholarly publications, including editorial supervision, for exhibitions and the permanent collection
-Development and organization of exhibition-related lectures, special projects, and guided tours
-Production of exhibition texts and media content in consultation with the education and marketing departments
-Preparation of timetables and budget plans for exhibitions; responsibility for monitoring their implementation and fulfillment
-Expansion and maintenance of national and international contacts and cooperations
-Monitoring and analysis of global developments in the areas of modern and/or contemporary art with an eye toward program design at the Kunstsammlung
Our requirements
-University studies in art history or 20th century art theory/criticism, preferably with PhD
-Extensive, specialized expertise in the area of international classical modernism and/or contemporary art.
-Long-standing practical experience with museums and exhibitions
-A very good network within the national and international art scenes
-Reliability in dealing with museums databanks, preferably MuseumPlus
-Good verbal and written skills in German and English
-Capacity for teamwork, organizational skills, and an above average level of commitment
What we offer
A diversified full-time position, initially limited to a period of two years, in one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia
A competitive salary in accordance with TV-L / EG13. Envisaged is an extension of the position beyond 2 years, at which point an increase to EG14 would be possible, given certain prerequisites.
