Graduated students of Minerva Art Academy and the Frank Mohr Institute show their work in a continuous series of exhibitions

As always, bachelor and master students from the various departments of Minerva Art Academy, (Hanze UAS) graduate before the summer holidays. They were faced with the great challenge of completing their studies in times of a pandemic and did a fantastic job with the help of teachers and staff. Especially in this time, art can contribute by connecting, softening and reflecting. Varying from personal processes to social criticism, from spatial design to art education research; Tales of the Unseen shows the great scope and impact of art with more than 130 autonomous artists, designers and art teachers. We are proud that with a completely renewed approach we can create a weekly changing exhibition. After months of online education, we are really looking forward to being able to physically show these works to the public.

Program
Before the summer, students’ works can already be seen in an online and offline sneak preview. The work can be seen on Instagram and distributed throughout the city of Groningen on various posters. Between September 2 and December 12, 2020, a series of physical exhibitions will take place under the title Tales of the Unseen (#TOTU) in the Koepelzaal of Minerva Art Academy. In this continuous exhibition no less than 15 different presentations are made, in which groups of students show their graduation work. Visitors are welcome to visit the exhibitions every week from September 2. Check www.academieminerva.nl for the full program. In time, visitors who can’t make it to the physical presentations can have a full online experience here.

Master students exhibit at NP3
In collaboration with NP3, the master students of the Frank Mohr Institute (FMI) show their work in the RE:Search:Gallery at Hofstraat, Groningen. With a series of exhibitions from September 2020 until January 2021, the masters in Painting and MADtech complete their two-year research by presenting their final projects to the public.

Minerva Art Academy Awards
Unchanged, several external experts will nominate students from the four study programs for the academy awards. This year for the first time, this will take place in a new format, with a total of four prizes being awarded. For the graduating students of the three programs Fine Art, Design and Fine Art and Design in Education, one prize each of EUR 1,500 will be made available. For the first time, artistic research is rewarded with a new research prize of EUR 500. The prize winners will be announced at the Zuiderdiep during the festive graduation ceremonies and all nominees and winners will be presented on our website.

Practical information
The website will be updated frequently as more information on programme, awards and satelite programme becomes available. Don’t forget to check out our Instagram page for a sneak preview of the works of our graduating artists!
