e-flux in June
Dears,
The distance from Moscow to Kassel is 1909.7 kilometers. This month we will be traveling back and forth, to open Time/Bank exhibition at Documenta 13, and to close Time/Food in Moscow with a screening of a new film we made. At Documenta, a Time/Bank archive and a screening room are housed in a small pavilion at the center of the beautiful Karlsaue park. We are planning to hang a few hammocks in the trees around this house… Come hang with us!
Yours truly,
e-flux

At Documenta 13, we will present Notes for a Time/Bank, an installation that comprises a video, an image archive, and the display of numerous listings containing offers and requests for various types of mutual assistance by the members of Time/Bank. Notes for a Time/Bank reflects on the historical, political, and anthropological conditions that make alternative economies such as time banking necessary. The ten chapters of the video component include original footage shot at historic utopian communities in America, interviews with Franco Berardi Bifo, and extensive commentary by the artists. The materials and documents collected in the course of the last 3 years of working on Time/Bank are made available in the form of an image archive, text and video libraries, a collection of alternative currencies, time currencies designed by artists, and other historic and contemporary artifacts, all presented in an adjoining room for those interested in a more detailed involvement with the concerns of the project.
June 6–8: Time/Bank professional preview, Documenta 13
June 9: Time/Bank Conference: I am my own money.
With Julieta Aranda, Paul Glover, Margrit Kennedy, Elizabeth Povinelli, Anton Vidokle, and others.
Free admission.
