e-flux in March
Dear friends,
“Arrow of time” refers to the visualization of the movement of time from the past to the future. Time is complex—it delineates space, schedules, and money. We have been thinking about time a lot with Time/Bank, the change in perception of what time is worth—in the exchange of time for the production of things we make and need. What if we change the language used to describe other “things” too, reassigning them as alternative recognizable forms, abstract shapes, smells or sounds? The documentary film collages of Adam Curtis—which we are hosting in our exhibition space in New York—function as such. Elizabeth Povinelli will address the question of representing politics and time as something with a front and back at her talk at MoMA PS1.
You should join us at one of our events this month.
Warmly,

Special lecture by Elizabeth Povinelli at MoMA PS1
If democracy is the back of history, there seems no front to neoliberal being. How do we think about the sources of the political otherwise when being seems trapped in an enclosure rather than having a front or back? Where are the sensuous modes of becoming within the global circulations of being that have defined the character of modern politics and markets?

Adam Curtis: The Desperate Edge of Now
Adam Curtis is not an artist, but a television journalist. Over the last decade, many artists have become interested in his work. Because of this, e-flux and Hans Ulrich Obrist have decided to create a solo show of Adam Curtis’ films, which includessa most of his work from 1989 to the present day.
