From October 6th to October 16th 2011, the second edition of EVENTO offers carte blanche to Michelangelo Pistoletto and his foundation Cittadellarte, to initiate an original, surprising and festive event of contemporary creation.

Every two years, EVENTO offers international artists a chance of taking a fresh look at the city of Bordeaux, to explore it and turning it into an atypical territory of artistic experimentation. Once again, this edition brings together many local and international artists in a free, top quality, generous, and multicultural event for audiences keen to discover and share.

Art for an urban re-evolution: a city-scaled theme
As artistic director of EVENTO 2011, the Italian artist and philosopher Michelangelo Pistoletto has chosen to include the local inhabitants and visitors in the production of ideas and creative projects at the heart of the city, thereby illustrating his conviction that art must be a central feature in a social and sensible transformation of the city.

Multiple interactive experiences
Original works, dance, performances, concerts, installations, exhibitions, urban games, sharing of savoir-faire and experience, co-construction of civic projects… will take over public spaces and institutions during events encouraging us to reinvent the city and our way of living together.

“Art is the most sensitive and synthetic expression of thought: the time has come for the artist to assume his responsibility and create bonds between human activities, from economics to politics, from science to religion, from education to behaviour, in a nutshell, all the territories of the social fabric.”
—Michelangelo Pistoletto, Manifesto Progetto Arte.
