Casco celebrates Nowruz (“New Day”), marking the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year for millions of people from the Middle East and Central Asia.

The celebration is joined by the Netherlands tour of ‘Chicago Boys, While We Were Singing, They Were Dreaming’. The tour will premiere in Utrecht on Saturday 19 March 2011 and travel in the following week to three other Dutch cities: Enschede, Arnhem and Amsterdam. ‘Chicago Boys’ is a transnational 1970s revival band and neoliberalism study group, assembled by Kurdish artist and musician Hiwa K. It explores different relations or, in Hiwa’s words, “affairs” between popular music and history as made behind the scenes by the original Chicago Boys. The latter signalled the beginning of the widespread implementation of neoliberalism, which in turn informs the political and cultural developments in the Middle East for the last three decades.

We are also pleased to announce our programme from spring 2011 to spring 2012, including a list of recent and upcoming publications by Casco. Please click here to download the programme.

We look forward to your feedback and participation in this programme.
