In 2011, VOLTA NY again returns to New York for the fourth edition of its strictly solo-project exhibition to complement its sister fair, The Armory Show. From March 3-6, 2011, VOLTA NY will exhibit a line-up of 83 exciting young and mid-career artists, represented by the same number of innovative international galleries. The two fairs will again share the OPEN FORUM Talks and complementary shuttle for visitors between the venues.

VOLTA7, which is now open to application, will be taking place once more at the Dreispitzhalle, close to the word-renowned Schaulager, while another newly-available permanent hall will decrease dependence on temporary structures for exhibiting galleries. Furthermore, encouraged by the response of collectors and curators to the NY format, the Curatorial Committee are this year placing a much stronger emphasis on solo presentations or two-person shows, with booth concepts that bring the work of two artists into dialogue with one another and allow for a greater understanding of individual practices.

This bold curatorial emphasis will set a path for VOLTA’s future to remain always on the forefront of new ideas.

Exhibiting galleries for VOLTA7 2011 will be selected by a Curatorial Committee composed of art critics and curators of an international pedigree. These include:

Francesco Stocchi, Rome
