Having invited outstanding galleries of the younger generation to show the latest developments in contemporary art for 25 years, Liste is pleased to announce the expansion of its commitment to presenting new artistic positions from around the world. The following new developments have been made in response to the uncertainty of the past nine months: On the one hand, they correspond to Liste’s core concerns and, on the other hand, they will offer dynamic ways to respond to the effects of the pandemic as it continues to run its course.
Beginning in 2021, Liste will consist of three formats: Liste Art Fair Basel, Liste Showtime Online and Liste Expedition Online. Galleries can now apply for Liste Art Fair Basel and Liste Showtime Online and, for the first time, project spaces can also apply for Liste Showtime Online.
For Liste Art Fair Basel 2021, galleries can apply for individual presentations or to host joint stands. Joint stands offer galleries lower participation costs and also enable gallerists who may be unable to travel in June the opportunity to collaborate with a European partner. Liste Art Fair Basel 2021 will be held on a one-time basis at Messe Basel in the immediate vicinity of Art Basel.
Coinciding with the fair, Liste Showtime Online will offer additional galleries and project spaces the opportunity to digitally showcase an artist and sell their works. Galleries that are not participating in the physical fair and projects spaces can apply. Galleries participating in Liste Art Fair Basel 2021 will automatically be included in Liste Showtime Online and do not need to apply separately.
In times of the local and virtual, it has become all the more important to give new artistic voices the best possible international platform that goes beyond temporary presence at a fair—be it online or physically. Therefore, following the conclusion of Liste Art Fair Basel and Liste Showtime Online 2021, Liste will debut Liste Expedition Online, a non-commercial and evolving research forum and artist index. All Liste Showtime Online presentations will be included free of charge and will be publicly available year-round and for years to come. There is no separate application for Liste Expedition Online.
