Kohlfurter Straße 41-43
(access studios and offices)

As from June 2010, you will find our enlarged gallery spaces, more artists studios and our offices in Künstlerhaus Bethanien’s new building at Kottbusser Straße 10 (access exhibitions) / Kohlfurter Straße 41-43 (access studios and offices), D-10999 Berlin.
The simple but elegant commercial building in the district of Kreuzberg was acquired by Nicolas Berggruen Holdings in 2008, and accepted as an ideal new location for the Künstlerhaus following a creative concept for re-use. The long-term perspective is to develop the building with a total area of 10,000 m2 into a creative commercial centre, which will house a mix of creative culture, internationalism and imaginative experiment and so generate a stimulating influence on its surroundings.
Such promising prospects call for celebration: from 7 pm on 11th June 2010 we will celebrate the RELAUNCH of Künstlerhaus Bethanien in suitable style, in the presence of the Governing Mayor of Berlin, of Nicolas Berggruen, representatives of our international partners, and more guests of honour.
The event will also include the OPENING of a first series of exhibitions in the new spaces, namely the solo exhibitions
Patrick Bernatchez – Die Zeit Verschlingt
Tine Oksbjerg – We will meet again but don’t know when
Robert Quint – If you want it to be right…
and the group exhibition
All my lovin’
with works by Elinor Carucci, Lydia Panas, Phillip Toledano, Edith Maybin
(curators: Peg Amison, Krzysztof Candrowicz, Christoph Tannert)
Following this, visitors will be invited to enjoy a concert by the Berlin group Samsara Blues Experiment.
Preparations for the move have been attended and actively supported by the Senate Office for Cultural Affairs and the shareholders of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien GmbH – the Academy of the Arts and the German Academic Exchange Service – as well as our partners at home and abroad. We would like to thank them all.
We are particularly grateful to the Stiftung Deutsche Klassenlotterie Berlin, whose generous allocation of funds made it possible to carry out the necessary conversion and development measures.
The relaunch event will be kindly sponsored by Daimler Financial Services.
