Director, TATE Modern

Tate Modern, one of the world’s great museums of modern art, is seeking to appoint a Director to succeed Vicente Todoli, who has led the Gallery with distinction since 2003. The new Director, joining Tate from Autumn 2010, will take up the appointment at an exciting and significant time as the second phase of Tate Modern’s development moves forward with pace.

Reporting to Nicholas Serota, Tate’s Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the curatorial and strategic vision for Tate Modern, building on the overwhelming success of the Gallery in its first ten years. He or she will play a key role in the delivery of the expansion of the Gallery and ensure the Gallery’s programme remains at the cutting edge of contemporary practice. Leading a dedicated team, the new Director will be required to conceive and execute the public programme at Tate Modern, representing the Gallery both externally and internally, whilst also contributing to the development of the Tate-wide Strategic Plan.

Candidates for the post will be distinguished in the field of international modern and contemporary art. They will have curatorial vision combined with excellent leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

For more information or to receive an application pack, please contact Tamsin Chandler of Liz Amos Associates on +44(0)20 7664 8601 or at tamsin.chandler@lizamosassociates.com. Information is also available at www.tate.org.uk or www.lizamosassociates.com.
