Since its debut in 2005, ART FAIR TOKYO has introduced the diversity and the fascination of the Japanese art scene. With its devotion to diverse and unique works of art, it has established its position as Japan’s most anticipated and substantial art fair and its reputation for exhibiting a wide variety of high-quality art and genres it covers, including contemporary art, modern art, nihonga, (traditional Japanese art form), Asian art, and antiques. In 2010, ART FAIR TOKYO will return to the Tokyo International Forum with a total 138 galleries from around the globe, –showcasing a total of some three thousands artworks.

The exhibition venue will be held at its regularly accessible location, the Exhibition Hall at the Tokyo International Forum conveniently located in the heart of Tokyo. In addition, following in the footstep of last year’s special section, @TOKIA, — which was devoted to emerging young galleries of contemporary art, — a special section will be set up for new galleries of contemporary art in the Lobby Gallery. This time, it will be under the banner of PROJECTS. A total of 31 fresh art galleries from Japan and overseas, all of which have been established within the past five years, will be presenting works of contemporary art. ART FAIR TOKYO will reflect not only the ‘present’ but also the ‘future’ art scene by setting up the PROJECTS — presenting a world of cutting-edge art by artists of our time who herald the next generation of the art scene.

ART FAIR TOKYO will continue to encourage the further development of the Japanese art market by offering the opportunity to discover diverse and high-quality artworks. This year, as a means to make the fair even richer, we strengthen partnerships with other institutions such as museums and hotels.

The fair will be open to public for three days including the weekend of April 2 to 4, 2010.

ART FAIR TOKYO will make TOKYO a must-go destination where art enthusiasts, art collectors, journalists, and curators come together and to seek artworks and cultivates stimulating dialogues among them to confirm the latest trends of the art world.

We look forward to welcoming you at ART FAIR TOKYO 2010.
