Auto. Dream and Matter analyses the presence of the car in contemporary art, or, more precisely, the relation between car culture and artistic creation in recent decades through more than a hundred works of art by 60 different artists. The powerful symbolism of the automobile – capable of exemplifying, synthesising or steering complex discussions about the reality of the here and now – continues to awaken interest in numerous artists, perhaps receiving even more emphasis in recent decades. The exhibition’s contents are organised around this artistic interest and its results in recent years. As a contextual reference, the starting point is in the 1980s, a period during which the artistic reading of the car has acquired great density and complexity, such as critical perspective and distanciated acridity. The automobile has been and continues to be one of the most effective ways to turn dreams into reality. Now the artists ask about the reality of these dreams.CURATOR: Alberto Martín Expósito

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial is a space for artistic exchange. It is set up with the purpose of establishing an effective alliance between art, design, culture, industry and economic progress and the goal of becoming a space for interaction and dialogue between art, new technologies and industrial creation. It throws a special spotlight on production, creation and research into art concepts still being defined.
