Pompeii and the Roman Villa: Art and Culture around the Bay of Naples

Before Vesuvius, one of the world’s great artistic centers was flourishing in Pompeii. This acclaimed, blockbuster exhibition, on view May 3 – October 4, 2009, takes you inside the homes of the region’s wealthy Roman patrons to discover their collections of sculptures, paintings, mosaics, and luxury arts created during this uniquely inspired time—some of which were only recently discovered and have never before been seen in the U.S.
