The International Modern and Contemporary Art Fair, Milan
17- 20 April 2009
fieramilanocity,
Milano, pavilions 3 and 4
Great collectors will come face to face with directors of Italian museums for the first meeting on Friday, 17 April at 3.00om, on the theme Lo sconfinamento del collezionismo privato nella sfera pubblica (Crossing the line between private and public collecting). This is a theme of great relevance in a city like Milan, always a meeting point for collectors from all over the world, but also itself a city of great collectors, some of whom, especially in the past, donated their rich collections to institutions, so contributing to the creation of a public artistic heritage unique in the world.
The partnership between MiArt and the IULM University, the fair’s official partner for 2009, will result in two interesting meetings on Saturday: “Il Manifesto della cultura di Milano” (Milan’s culture manifesto) and I consumi esperienziali (Experiential consumption). Also on Saturday, at 6.00pm, NABA will present a conversation between Hans Ulrich Obrist and Nico Dockx in the The Utopian Display Platform cycle, curated by Marco Scotini and Maurizio Bortolotti and entitled The Collecting Display.
Another crowd-pulling event is that scheduled for Sunday 19 April at 5.00pm, when Mimmo Paladino, Alessandro Bergonzoni and Sergio Givone will discuss the theme Beauty Today, followed by a screening of Paladino’s film Don Quixote.
These meetings underline the well-established collaboration between the Fair and those who are involved in and promote contemporary art in Milan, because MiArt wants to be seen as an active part of the dialogue with Italian and international cultural, institutional and entrepreneurial systems.
