Artspeak is a Vancouver artist run centre established in 1986. Artspeak presents contemporary practices, innovative publications, book works, editions, talks, and events that encourage dialogue between visual art and writing. Past publications include the works of artists and writers such as Roy Arden, Stan Douglas, Juan A. Gaitán, Janice Kerbel, Tim Lee, Mark Lewis, Shirin Neshat, Isabelle Pauwels, Lisa Robertson, Kathy Slade and Susan Sontag.

Until 2010, Artspeak is going OFFSITE, taking artist projects outside the gallery to the street, airwaves and other alternative sites in Vancouver and beyond. OFFSITE includes performances, public projects, speaker series, and collaborations that engage innovative strategies of production. At the same time, Artspeak’s ONSITE gallery space has transformed into a malleable venue for publications, printed matter, readings, and dialogue. Artspeak’s publishing activity is contextualized within this shifting space.
