The third edition of INK Miami opens Thursday, December 4th with a Breakfast Preview starting at 10:00 am at the Suites of Dorchester on 19th and Collins, just two blocks from the Miami Beach Convention Center.
Exciting new projects from INK Miami’s exhibiting contemporary publishers include lush new cyanotypes by ALEX KATZ and CHRISTIAN MARCLAY, glow-in-the-dark wallpaper by TRENTON DOYLE HANCOCK at Graphicstudio USF. New editions by JUDY PFAFF, DAVID LYNCH, ROBERT COTTINGHAM, DAVID SHAPIRO, and SAM RICHARDSON will be among the highlights at Tandem Press. Solo Impression Inc. will debut new digital ink jet prints on archival paper by ALLAN WEXLER and ALTOON SULTAN, as well as an inventive series of five inkjet cotton fabric prints with digitized embroidery by JEAN SHIN and a new edition by WILLIAM TILLYER. Shark’s Ink will show newly completed color lithographs by TOM BURCKHARDT, ENRIQUE CHAGOYA and ROBERTO JUAREZ, as well as color woodcuts by HIROKE MORINOUE and BETTY WOODMAN. Along with editions by JULIE MEHRETU, JOCKUM NÖRDSTROM, and NATHAN OLIVEIRA, Crown Point Press will premiere EDGAR BRYAN’S new project, “The Surrealist,” 2008, in an edition of 25. Dolan Maxwell will show recent projects by DAVID KELSO and a selection of works from their extensive inventory of mid-century Atelier 17 artists. Paulson Press will present new projects by CHRISTOPHER BROWN, DAVID HUFFMAN, and Gee’s Bend quilter MARY LEE BENDOLPH. Los Angeles-based Mixografía will present an ambitious three-dimensional project by JOHN BALDESSARI entitled “Sailboat” in an edition of 30 and ED RUSCHA’s “Old Wood/New Wood,” 2007, a diptych relief print on handmade paper.
Marlborough Graphics will exhibit 20th century masterworks alongside new editions by CLAUDIO BRAVO, MANOLO VALDÉS and CHAKAIA BOOKER, and works on paper by STACEY DAVIDSON. Dranoff Fine Art will bring a diamond-dusted screen print by DAMIEN HIRST, as well as contemporary masterworks by ANDY WARHOL, EVA HESSE, ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG, YOSHIMOTO NARA, SOL LEWITT, and TAKASHI MURAKAMI. London-based dealer Sims Reed will show an extensive catalog of 20th century Pop classics including ROY LICHTENSTEIN’s 1990 “Reflections on Girl” as well as works by DAVID HOCKNEY, GERALD LAING, ANDY WARHOL, and MIMMO ROTELLA. Seminal works from LOUISE BOURGEOIS, CHUCK CLOSE, and JEFF KOONS, as well as important works by HENRI MATISSE and PABLO PICASSO will be on offer at John Szoke Editions. Szoke is new to the Fair as is Philadelphia-based dealer Works On Paper, Inc. who plans to offer rare-to-market masterworks including ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG’S 1967 “Test Stone I” from the “Booster and 7-Studies” series and an iconic ELLSWORTH KELLY lithograph from 1997.
