The Academy of Art and Design, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW seeks Professor (m/f/d) for Theory of Interior Design and Scenography (60–80%). Teaching and research activities at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel relate to all facets of spatial design in their scenographic relationships to social, cultural, artistic, technological, ecological and societal factors.
Your scope of teaching and research responsibilities will include:
–Seminars and lectures as well as supervision of individual theory papers in all six semesters of the BA program in Interior Design and Scenography
–Supervision of students in the transdisciplinary Master Studio Design and in the PhD program Make/Sense of our International Graduate School for Art and Design
–Active participation and stronger integration of teaching and research in the field of interior design and scenography and beyond in exchange with other study programs and institutes of the FHNW Academy of Art and Design
–Academic publications, participation in conferences as well as collaboration in and acquisition of third-party funded research projects
Qualifications
You have a university degree (MA) in the field of spatial design (architecture, interior design, scenography, design) and / or a humanities field (cultural studies, art, design, theater) ideally with a doctorate (PhD).
Furthermore, you have:
–Many years of teaching experience in higher education
–Extensive theoretical and historical knowledge in the field of interior design and scenography, which is also reflected in research results
–Higher teaching qualifications or the willingness to acquire them in the course of the first years
–Excellent communication skills and experience working with interdisciplinary teams
–Excellent organizational skills
–Good network in the cultural and academic field in Switzerland and internationally
–Very good written and spoken German and English skills
