Please join us as the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Chicago invites and welcomes interdisciplinary artist Nayland Blake to deliver our annual Goodman Davis Lecture.

Since the 1980s, Nayland Blake has constructed an influential body of work that explores play, eroticism, and the subjective experience of desire and loss. Inspired by feminist theory and queer subcultures, Blake explores the contradictions of power and representation, particularly as they relate to their own identity as a nonbinary, multiracial artist.

Established in 2018, through the generosity of Deborah Goodman Davis, the Goodman Davis Lecture Series brings vibrant voices to the University of Chicago’s Department of Visual Arts and the greater university community.

This event will be moderated by the Chair of the Department of Visual Arts, Matthew Jesse Jackson.

Live captioning will be available.
