Les Cahiers du Musée national d’art moderne Out Now
Les Cahiers du Musée national d’art moderne is a leading international art magazine published quaterly, in french, by the Pompidou Center in Paris. Its trend-setting articles cover the realms of art history and modern and contemporary art practice.
Thematic issues alternate with mixed issues, yet every one features original essays by established authors and up-and-coming writers, both French and foreign, along with historic texts that are otherwise unavailable. Because the review keeps in close touch with current art practice and intellectual theory on an international level, as well as with the activities of the Musée national d’art moderne within the Pompidou Center, it has become a crucial working tool and source of reflection for all professionals and amateurs on the art scene.
The appearance and layout of the Cahiers du Mnam were completely revamped, providing greater flexibility between text and image and making the review more pleasant to read. The cover, henceforth in color, is regularly commissioned from a practicing artist who may also design a specific project for the printed interior of the same issue.
For issue no. 100, which coincides with the thirtieth anniversary of the opening of the Pompidou Centre, eight artists are taking the journal over with 16-page projects specially conceived for its printed space. Annette Messager opens the series, next come Albert Oehlen, Patrick Faigenbaum, Chloe Piene, Petra Mrzyk and Jean-François Moriceau, Wim Delvoye, and Thomas Hirschhorn.
