The Centre Pompidou Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Florence Derieux as the Centre Pompidou Foundation Curator of American Art acting as Curator-at-Large. In her new role, Ms. Derieux will work closely with members of the Foundation to develop and support the Centre Pompidou through an expanding program of acquisitions and donations of American art.
An art historian and curator, Florence Derieux holds art history degrees from Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier, France and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, Italy. Since 2008, she has served as the Director of the FRAC Champagne-Ardenne in Reims, where she organized exhibitions by Tom Burr, Antoine Catala, Agnes Denes, Latifa Echakhch, Cyprien Gaillard, Nick Mauss, Ciprian Mureşan, Lisa Oppenheim, Lili Reynaud Dewar, Sterling Ruby, and Lara Schnitger, among others. She was also curator of Art Basel Parcours between 2013 and 2015. Previously, she had been curator at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and Deputy Director of the Picasso Museum in Antibes.
Ms Derieux has published numerous catalogs and contributed texts to a number of publications and magazines. Her forthcoming publications include Tom Burr. Anthology: Writings 1991–2015 (Sternberg Press, 2015) and Agnes Denes: Work 1969–2013 (Mousse Publishing, 2015). She has been a member of ICOM (International Council of Museums) since 2000 and of IKT (International Association of Curators of Contemporary Art) since 2001, as well as the Artistic Committee of Etant donnés, the French-American Fund for Contemporary Art (New York) since 2012.
