Art Cannes is a new type of international art fair with its programming patterned after the Cannes Film Festival, for which this city is so famous. To be held in the same magnificent setting as the film festival, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès; prominently situated on the beach and overlooking the Riviera. With the international art fair taking center stage, this event will celebrate the best of international contemporary art and those who inform and nurture it. Art fair, awards ceremony, and [art film] festival comprised of a series of art projects; this unique platform will feature the top stars of the art world, spotlight and honor those who deserve it most, present the best new and existing work in contemporary art by todays most respected and leading galleries, during the most celebrated season in the Côte d’Azur.
To be held on an annual basis in late August, typically a point of pause in the art world; the timing of this event is as much to provide a glance back on the highlights of the previous year through the Cannes Art Awards, while providing a sneak preview to collectors for the fall gallery offerings, with an opportunity to acquire top works early in the season.
Programming:
Cannes Art Awards: No other city in the world is more famous for its prestigious international awards ceremony than Cannes. On the premier of Art Cannes, the same Red Carpet descended upon by the worlds most notable film star elites, will be rolled out to welcome the nominees and honored guests of the inaugural Cannes Art Awards. The categories will be juried by an international panel of top experts in their field, including museum directors, curators, critics, artists, and collectors. This annual awards ceremony will be the first of its kind to pay homage to existing art awards, jurying the Best of the Best of the top prizes that exist today, as well as featuring new categories to spotlight those who deserve it most. Cannes [Art Film]: A natural extension for the Palais des Festivals venue, art film screenings will be held on a continuous basis in up to five screening rooms simultaneously throughout the duration of the event, featuring mostly video works for sale, as well as specially curated screenings – many of which will debut for the first time. A full [art film] festival programming guide, with screening times and related information will be provided to attendees.
Art Perspectives: The daily talks program Perspectives, will aim to give voice to an array of international vantage points on key issues involving contemporary art; from renowned art world leaders, to the fresh cutting-edge perspectives of the young and up and coming.
Art DJ: The Riviera Rotunda of the Palais des Festivals will host a glittering discothèque nightly, whereby international DJs will spin a mix of the best popular tunes, infused with art sound bytes from special guest sound artists and surprise audio cuts from a selection of video artworks .
Art [Beach] Intervention: Special art interventions and projects will be staged along the famed Croisette stretch and beachfront located just steps off of the Palais des Festivals venue.
VIP: A series of special VIP programming events will include a host of private screenings, cocktail parties in an assortment of Rivera settings, private art tours, and priority-access events at the Palais des Festivals.

Show Location: Art Cannes will take place at the Palais des Festivals, in Cannes, France, in the same magnificent setting as the Cannes Film Festival, overlooking the Mediterranean on the French Riviera. The Palais des Festivals is a world-class exhibition venue, complete with state of the art screening rooms, and is rated excellent in event production, ensuring to make the first and subsequent editions a remarkable success.
Date and Times: The show will be open to the public from Thursday through Sunday, 23-26 August, 2007, with its Premier, Opening Vernissage, and First View programming commencing on Wednesday, 22 August by invitation only.
