Job Title: Curator, Frieze Foundation
Requirement: Full time, from 1 November 2006
Salary: Dependent on role and experience.
Frieze Foundation is looking for an experienced curator to programme Frieze Projects, the annual curatorial programme compromising Frieze Commissions, Frieze Talks and The Cartier Award realised at Frieze Art Fair. The Curator will develop the innovative, high profile, public art platform initiated by Polly Staple. The job requires:
An understanding of the complexities of commissioning and producing site-specific projects, with the ability to programme a relevant programme of artists projects and of managing that process from start to finish
An informed perspective and strong network of relationships dealing with both emerging and established artists and the curatorial field worldwide
An understanding of the opportunities and parameters the Fair context provides
The knowledge to programme an agenda setting talks programme
The ability to create and manage a team and work with the existing fair staff
The ability to initiate and maintain ongoing relationships with a range of collaborating institutions from public funding bodies to corporate sponsors
The skill to support applications for major funding grants, manage significant budgets
The ability to work to deadlines
Critical writing experience and editing skills
The full time position is based in London. The Curator is supported by a full time Associate Curator, a part time Curatorial Assistant and a full production / fair team. The annual secured budget from public funding and commercial sponsorship for Frieze Projects is £300,000.
Interviews will be held in London and New York.
