Deadline for Exhibitor Applications: March 27, 2006

Circa Puerto Rico 06, the first international art fair in the Caribbean, will launch on May 25 – 28, 2006, at the new Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan. The fair will feature some 100 exhibitors from Puerto Rico, Latin America, the United States and Europe.

Scheduled to occur shortly after arteBA, the Buenos Aires art fair, and opening on the heels of the Latin American art auctions in New York, CIRCA Puerto Rico 06 will bring the best of Modern and contemporary art to a local and international audience of collectors. It will be the first and only art fair of its kind in the Caribbean and Central America, where an important group of collectors has emerged in the past few years, in response to the regions burgeoning and dynamic artistic community and prominent museums and galleries.

CIRCA Puerto Rico 06 will also act as a leader in the islands art community by organizing a series of programs, which include lectures, seminars and exhibitions. Two panels will take place that will gather museum professionals, and another event will be organized in collaboration with Sothebys. CIRCA Puerto Rico 06 intends to participate in building a professional environment for art in the region and to act as a platform for dialogue between the local community and the international art world.

The program of special exhibitions will consist of projects by 10 internationally renowned artists organized in a section called 10×10. The fair will also feature separate sections for magazines and publishing houses, as well as an area for exhibitions by museums, art schools and art cooperatives. In addition to the fair itself, CIRCA Puerto Rico 06 is partnering with museums, galleries, and other venues throughout San Juan to fill the city with additional events and exhibitions. Concerts, art workshops, fashion shows and performances will all help to bring the vibrancy of the fair outside of the convention center and into the streets of the city.

CIRCA Puerto Rico 06 is organized by Portfolio FIAC, Inc., a corporation founded by Roberto J. Nieves to serve as a cultural management leader in the Puerto Rican and Caribbean communities.

CIRCA Puerto Rico ’06 is sponsored by Caribbean Merchandiser Services, ArtNexus, Institute of Puerto Rican Culture, El Nuevo Día, Puerto Rico Tourism Company, Art Premium and the School of Fine Arts of Puerto Rico.

CIRCA Puerto Rico 06 is in the process of finalizing its list of exhibitors.
