The Cartier Award 2006

Frieze Art Fair, acknowledged as one of the leading contemporary art fairs of the world, has announced the launch of The Cartier Award.

The Cartier Award for an emerging artist is a major new initiative by Frieze Projects, the curatorial programme of Frieze Art Fair. The award is sponsored by Cartier and supported by Arts & Business and Delfina Studio Trust, London.

Artists are invited to propose a new work to be realised at Frieze Art Fair 2006 which will be produced under the auspices of Frieze Projects.

Projects may take the form of site-specific installation; performance; film and video and print publications.

The Cartier Award includes:
The presentation of an artwork at Frieze Art Fair 2006
Project production costs of up to £10,000
An artists fee of £1,000 plus per diems and travel expenses up to £3,000
A three month residency at Delfina Studio Trust including living accommodation and studio, from 1 August31 October 2006

The Cartier Award is open to emerging artists within 5 years of graduating from a BA/MA or international equivalent. Submissions from all international artists who meet this criteria are welcomed.

An online application form will be available to complete by 1 October 2005. Artists should complete the form by Friday 6 January 2006.
