FIAC 2005
Evening rendez-vous at the Grand Palais
The FIAC 2005 will take place in Hall 4 and 5.1 of the Parc des Expositions, Porte de Versailles, from October 6th through October 10th. Parallel to the main body of the manifestation, FIAC will present a series of evening rendez-vous, both artistic and festive in nature, at the Grand Palais.
These evening events will be open to FIAC visitors (upon presentation of a FIAC entry ticket : invitation, badge or voucher). They will take place on October 6th, 7th and 8th between 6.30pm and 10.30pm in the central nave of the Grand Palais, accessible through the main entrance located on Avenue Winston Churchill in Paris 8th arrondissement.
The central space of the nave will be organized around the presentation of artworks and architectural propositions which are rarely on display or are on exhibit for the first time. The unifying factor in the choice of works presented is that each creates an autonomous space specifically intended for use by the public (rest and lounge areas, seating, bars and houses) creating a convivial and relaxed environment
In the presence of the artists, a programme of artist films will be presented in an especially constructed on-site cinema. A daily cycle of artists performances will complete the programme of events planned for the evening rendez-vous of the Grand Palais.
Alice Anderson, Emmanuelle Antille, Atelier van Lieshout, The Blue Noses, Andrea Blum, Bertrand Bonello, Daniel Buren, Los Carpintieros, François Curlet, Brice Dellsperger, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Dan Graham, Michel Houellebecq, Karen Kilimnik, Masbendo, Kolkoz, Ange Leccia, Ernesto Neto, Neistat Brothers, Jean Prouvé, Anri Sala, Frédéric Sanchez, Roman Signer, Lily Van der Stokker, Xavier Veilhan, Jean-Luc Vilmouth, Franz West and Erwin Wurm will be among the participating artists, together with a number of additional surprises.
This list is subject to modification. A day by day update of the programme can be consulted on our website www.fiacparis.com and in FIACs daily newspaper.
The spirit of the Grand Palais rendez-vous is neither that of a commercial venue, nor that of a museum exhibition. The intention is to offer FIAC visitors and key figures of the international art world present in Paris for FIAC, the privilege of a unique meeting place in a convivial setting, open to them following their visit to the fair, or to one of the numerous cultural events scheduled simultaneously in Paris.
On October 5th at 11.00pm, the Grand Palais will also host the inaugural party celebrating the opening of FIAC 2005 (entrance by invitation only). This event has been conceived by the Baron team, all prominent figures of Parisian nightlife.
