The Feldman Gallery Project Space of Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) is proud to announce Troca Brasil

The Feldman Gallery Project Space (FG PS) of the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) in Portland, Oregon, presents Troca Brasil, an international cultural exchange with the Brazilian gallery A Gentil Carioca (The Kind One from Rio) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Internationally renowned artist and co-founder of A Gentil Carioca, Ernesto Neto, creates a large-scale, site-specific installation for PNCAs Swigert Commons. Four artists represented by A Gentil Carioca, Márcio Botner with collaborator Pedro Agilson, Laura Lima, Thiago Rocha Pitta, and Marssares, will also travel to Portland for an exhibition and deliver a series of student workshops and public lectures at PNCA.

As part of the series of lectures for Troca Brasil, co-founders and artists Neto, Botner and Lima will discuss their Brazilian gallery A Gentil Carioca, on Wednesday, August 31, 12:30-1:30 PM at PNCA. Ernesto Neto will also be giving a lecture about his own work on Friday, September 2, 7 PM. All lectures are free and open to the public. The exhibition is co-curated by Feldman Gallery Director Nan Curtis and Elana Mann, an independent curator.

Portland artists have been selected to exhibit and serve as goodwill ambassadors in Brazil. Nan Curtis and Elana Mann are working with the selected artists, Bruce Conkle, David Eckard, Emily Ginsburg, MK Guth, Don Olsen and Tamsie Ringler, as well as the founders of A Gentil Carioca to organize the subsequent exhibition and residency in Rio de Janeiro in the fall of 2006.
