Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, UK is looking for a director
BALTIC is looking for an inspirational Director with an international profile to provide strategic leadership and an outstanding artistic vision. Your role will be to further develop, lead and sustain BALTIC’s exceptional contribution to contemporary visual art and its audiences.
You will have experience, gained at a senior level, of leading a contemporary arts organisation and will already have successful professional relationships with the foremost people of the international arts community, including artists, institutional directors and curators, as well as decision makers and opinion formers. You will want to promote broad public interest in contemporary visual art as well as sustaining more specialised audiences. Your ability to continue to build effective partnerships with both public and private sectors will be critical to the future success of BALTIC. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability and experience to implement a successful artistic strategy within a sound financial and management framework.
BALTIC opened in the summer of 2002 to widespread popular and critical acclaim and has already attracted over one and a half million visitors to its diverse programme of exhibitions, live art, seminars, classes and educational activities. BALTIC is situated on the south bank of the River Tyne, in the north of England, at the heart of the regeneration of Gateshead Quays. As a major initiative for contemporary art in the North of England, BALTIC is supported by Gateshead Council and Arts Council England.
