CASCO, Office for Art, Design and Theory, in Utrecht, the Netherlands, is known internationally as a platform for experimental art and design. The projects produced over the past few years include: ‘First Woman on the Moon’ by Aleksandra Mir, ‘Funky Baskenland’ by Asier Perez Gonzáaez, ‘Make Over’ by Otto Berchem and ‘Killer Queen’ by L.A. Raeven. In the past, Casco has cooperated with an international selection of artists such as Hinrich Sachs, Matthieu Laurette, N55, Apolonija Sustersic, Luke Fowler, Jens Haaning and Bik Van der Pol.
Casco publishes Casco Issues a magazine on subjects as ‘Real Experiments’, ‘Democratic Design’ and ‘Multiplicity’, and publications such as the book ‘Kelly 1:1, a cover version by Experimental Jetset’ and the CD ‘A dead sentence here and abroad’ by Bernadette Corporation.
It is Casco’s ambition to employ art alongside design and theory as integral parts of its programme.
The director is responsible for the artistic programme and works on the development of Casco’s identity within a national and international context. Moreover, the director leads a small organization and is thereby also responsible for staffing and financial policy.
In principle, this position requires full-time employment, however a possible separation of artistic and business tasks could be negotiated.
