The call for proposals for the eighth edition of PERSPEKTIVE is open until December 1, 2021. Launched in 2014, the PERSPEKTIVE fund is a project co-organized by the Bureau des arts plastiques / Institut français Deutschland and the Goethe-Institut. It seeks to support the development of collaborative and transnational artist initiatives between French and German art scenes as well as stimulate dialogue between European partners. The fund offers cultural institutions and arts practitioners the opportunity to pool their skills and inspiring ideas in order to bring innovative, original, and ambitious projects to life.
Project proposals can take the form of site-specific or traveling exhibitions as well as interactive offerings such as conferences, symposia, or workshops. Performing arts events such as festivals, performances, or other types of artistic outreach initiatives organized by artists or cultural stakeholders are also invited to apply.
Last year’s edition of PERSPEKTIVE 2021 was defined by the challenges of realizing artistic projects during a global crisis. Contemporary art and architecture submissions focused on creating spaces for inspiring dreams and fantasies, but also reflection and debate about a common, more inclusive and engaging future. Projects from the fields of urbanism and architecture such as Der Bach, der Hof und das Wasser and Utopies constructives enabled craftsmen, architects, and average joes to create new forms of urban living in harmony with the local, natural environment. Artistic projects such as Les Veillées or Polyphon fostered an exchange of voices, sounds, and other forms of expression between different cultures and populations. Proximité (s)/Nähe made it possible to explore the urban peripheries created by waves of migration and the typical stories of those living there. More information on all of the selected projects can be found on the website.
Against this backdrop, 2022 will be a particularly important year for reaffirming the need for artistic creation, exchange, and joining together across borders. The PERSPEKTIVE fund views itself as a platform for fostering new art forms that will impact the cultural life of tomorrow. Artists, architects, art theorists, critics and curators, whether highly experienced or at the outset of their careers, of French or German origins, are invited to submit proposals to be reviewed by a jury of experts in February 2022; selected projects will then be implemented between March and December 2022.
The Bureau des arts plastiques team is available to provide additional information on the application or funding requirements and looks forward to receiving proposal submissions for PERSPEKTIVE 2022.
