Septembers 6th, is a proposal by Christian Boltanski, presented by the Musee d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris. It is the result of an invitation of the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (INA) to Boltanski to visit its inexhaustible archive of images.
Taking his own birthday – Septembers 6th – as starting point, the artist shows the news report of that very day between 1944 to 2004. The extracts are broadcasted in an accelerated way, open for interruption by the visitor at any time.
The launch of this project takes place at Societe d’Encouragement pour l’Industrie Nationale, where the Lumiere brothers have inaugurated the history of cinema on March 22, 1895, showing their film “La sortie des usines Lumiere”.
