Fourth Annual -scopeNew York

-scope art fair Inc. is pleased to announce that the fourth annual -scopeNew York will take place from Friday, March 11 through Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Flatotel Hotel, 135 West 52nd Street (between 6th and 7th avenues). The Flatotel is located around the corner from The Museum of Modern Art, 57th Street galleries, major subways and is walking distance from The Armory Show
-scopeNew York kicks off with a VIP/Press Preview Brunch on Friday, March 11, from 12pm to 2pm (RSVP alethea@scope-art.com). Exhibitors are open every day Friday, March 11 through Monday, March 14, 2004 from 12pm to 8pm. (Admission price does not include Culture on the Verge or catalogue.)
Over 70 Exhibitors hail from Athens, Atlanta, Berlin, Calgary, Chicago, Cleveland, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Houston, London, Los Angeles, Lyon, Miami, Milan, Montreal, New York City (Brooklyn, Manhattan), Padua, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Toronto, Tokyo, Trieste, and Washington, D.C.

-scopeNew York featured programs will be: -scopeSound Live, Performance-scope and Cinema-scope. Please go to www.scope-art.com for complete information on exhibitors, panels and events. Additionally, the recipients of this years -scopeNew York Emerging Artist Grant and Independent Curator Award will be selected by the -scopeCircle Committee for Emerging Art.
Culture on the Verge, the Friday opening night party, begins at 9pm ($20 admission). Festivities will take place in the exhibitor’s rooms until 12am and in the hotel’s ground floor atrium space until 2am. Culture on the Verge will feature live music, special performances and film/video screenings.
Two panel discussions have been scheduled: on Saturday, March 12, Finding the Fund in Art and on Sunday, March 13, God in Art. Both are from 3pm to 4pm and are included with admission.
The Silent Auction consists of works donated by exhibiting artists. Bidding begins on Friday, March 11 at 12pm and closes on Monday, March 14 at 4pm. Proceeds benefit the Emerging Artist Grant, Independent Curator Award, in addition to local art and education programs Young Audiences New York and Groundswell Community Mural Project.

-scope Art Fair Inc. presents one-person and thematic group exhibitions organized by emerging, innovative international galleries, curators, dealers and arts organizations in the intimate and relaxed atmosphere of a hotel. The exhibitions, in combination with -scope Programs (e.g., Cinema-scope, panel discussions, -scopeSound, Performance-scope) cultivate a unique forum for contemporary art and emerging culture. Beginning with the inauguration of -scopeNew York in May 2002, -scope has made itself an invaluable resource for established and burgeoning collectors, museums, curators, and the culture-loving public.
