Located at Pratt’s 25-acre main campus in Brooklyn, New York, Pratt Institute’s Department of History of Art and Design offers the following degree and certificate options for graduate students: MA History of Art and Design / MA History of Art and Design & MSLIS / Advanced Certificate in Museum Studies / Advanced Certficate in Design History

When exploring Pratt’s degree options, you will find participants studying 17th-century frescoes in Venice, 19th-century Dogon figures in the conservation laboratory at the Brooklyn Museum, and 21st-century performance art as a curatorial intern at the Guggenheim Museum.

Pratt Institute is an exceptional place to study the history of art and design. Its landmarked campus attracts leading artists, designers, historians, and theorists and is minutes from the studios, galleries, private collections, libraries, and museums that make New York a premier international art center.

The faculty is comprised of distinguished scholars who focus on the intellectual and professional growth of students. Their expertise, dedication, and innovation can be seen in Pratt’s broad range of courses, the academic and professional opportunities available, and most importantly, in the quality of our graduate students’ work.

Graduate scholarships are available to incoming domestic and international students based on merit. All students are considered; no separate application is required.
