Art project by Borre Saethre
“I […] believed in the descriptions in comic magazines of individuals that looked like animals who acted human, had clothes, spoke, etc. and I was convinced that I actually could go out to the forest and make friends – that somewhere there was an animal that could become my very best friend.” -Borre Saethre
SITE #9-10 (a double issue) is now available with a special section on the notion of the Gesamtkunstwerk, embracing the theme from a variety of perspectives, from Kunstverein’s Sputniks, through Greenberg, Mallarme, Berens and of course Wagner himself to the understanding of the beginning of modernity as the poisoning of the ear.
The issue features, in addition, an interview with, and a centerfold by, Borre Saethre, as well as essays on Gerry Schum, Beckett and the corpse, Local Angel and Alain Badiou, Allan Kaprow, and the work of Daniele Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub.
SITE #11, due out in September, will include texts by Jennifer Allen, Thierry de Duve, Andrea Esser, and Martin Seel based on talks delivered at a seminar entitled Limits of Aesthetics, Kant and Contemporary Art. The seminar, held in May at Moderna Museet, Stockholm, was hosted by SITE in cooperation with The Goethe Institute, Stockholm.
Other features in SITE #11: texts on the television series West Wing, on Black Mountain College, an interview with Bernie Kirschenbaum, as well as a short story by artist Carl Michael von Hausswolff on fierce maggots, and an art project by Gabriel Lester.
SITE is an interdisciplinary magazine devoted to the arts, philosophy, architecture, politics and film.
