The worthiest project has been awarder to ANDREA VILIANI for the following reason:
In consideration of the theoretical value of the exhibition proposal, the curator‘s capability to shape it also practically, the conceptual complexity of the project and its formal structure, rooted in a deep dialogue with the artists themselves, the jury recognizes the need that ANDREA VILIANI felt to establish a dialogue between the works of art and exhibition space itself, and his will to commission the catalogue to two artists and an educational project to another artist not represented in the show.
The award will consist in realization of the exhibition project NO MANIFESTO in February 2005 at the GAMeC in Bergamo.
A bilingual catalogue (Italian/English) of the exhibition will be published, illustrating not only the content of the show but also presenting the other competing projects in detail.
The Premio Lorenzo Bonaldi per l’Arte – EnterPrize, the only one of its kind, is intended to support the innovative work of a young curator and his or her original exhibition project. The aim of this award is to highlight the key role and importance of curators not only on the international art scene but also in the broader context of contemporary cultural practices, in addition to encouraging and supporting the talent of a young curator at an extremely critical moment in his or her professional career.
This prize was inaugurated in 2003 by the Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Bergamo to commemorate Lorenzo Bonaldi’s passion for art and collecting.
Each year some advisors are invited to nominate one curator, who can take part in the competition in one year only.
In a second phase an international jury, different every year, composed of three outstanding representatives of the international art world will award the Prize to the project that is recognized as being the most innovative elaboration of critical thought on the dynamics connected with the conceptualization and execution of an exhibition, as well as its relative feasibility and compliance with the assigned budget.
The Prize itself will consist in execution of the winning project in a specially dedicated space of GAMeC
Now at GAMeC is on show Another Zero, the exhibition project winner of the 1st annual prize proposed by November Paynter. The exhibition inaugurated last February 5.
