The Artists’ Program is a space for artists, critics, and curators interested in taking part in intensive training, debate, and production—the three pillars of the program since its founding in 2009 in the Art Department of the Torcuato Di Tella University. In 2020, the pandemic forced us to migrate the entire program online and it became a difficult yet fulfilling learning experience.

In 2021 we established virtual learning from the very beginning, resulting in an online program that was destined to participants outside Buenos Aires, where the Art Department is located. This resulted in a revealing and stimulating experience and we have thus decided to sustain and develop the project we underwent this year and offer a new 100% online version of the Artists’ Program, geared towards Argentinean and international participants. We invite artists and curators worldwide to this educational experience where we will ask ourselves again about the meaning and power of artistic practice in these unprecedented, uncertain and challenging times.

The XIV Edition of the program will take place between March 2022 and June 2023. The participants will have online classes approximately three afternoons per week. The last semester will focus on a writing workshop and in working with a tutor on the Final Project to be carried out in June 2023. The annual group critique will be coordinated by Carlos Huffmann and Mariana Telleria. This space will focus on the projects and proposals of the participating artists, curators, writers and critics.

In addition to the group critique, two theoretical seminars will be offered during the first semester: the first one, led by Graciela Speranza will focus on issues related to art and critical theory. In the second one, in charge of Tomás Borovinsky, participants will discuss philosophical contemporary authors and trends.

During the second semester, six artists-writers-thinkers will participate in a seminar where they will reveal their interests and obsessions. These will be Mariana Enriquez, Marie Bardet, Alfredo Aracil, Martin Legon, Ernesto Ballesteros and Martin Rodriguez.

The artists of the Program will also participate in practical and technical workshops where guest professors will propose an approach to creative work that reflects a personal and idiosyncratic way of conceiving the most nuclear aspects of artistic practice. These workshops will be in charge of Mónica Girón, Flavia Da Rin and Max Gómez Canle.

The group of critics and curators will have a particular challenge this year: parallel to the group critique and the theoretical seminars, they will engage in a Curatorial Practice Workshop every fifteen days along the year. This will be led by Carla Barbero and will entail a dynamic space in which to integrate shared knowledge and tools for the debate and practice of curatorship in relation to local and regional contexts. By creating an experimental arena towards contemporary curatorial practices, the workshop aims to dismantle standardised narratives to favour more diverse and cooperative practices.

We will also continue to explore Mail Art and experimentation on graphic and editorial design, in a workshop led by Vanina Scolavino

Moreover, the artists will have four tutoring sessions in smaller groups led by Fabian Marcaccio, Irene Kopelman and Alejandra Seeber.

The selection committee is composed of Mariana Telleria, Carla Barbero, Lucrecia Lionti and Beto Antonio Villa
