During the two last Venice Biennials IASPIS has arranged exhibitions of contemporary Swedish art. In connection with this years Venice Biennial IASPIS will create a project which consists of an exhibition and a book, combined with a meeting and events around the theme of the staged. This time IASPIS will temporarily move its activities to Magazzini del Sale, an old salt warehouse close to Accademia, which now houses an art gallery. The idea is to create a meeting space, which will mirror the IASPIS program in Stockholm, and thus will contain exhibited work, texts, talks, discussions, interviews, performances and concerts.

The theatrical character of the exhibition space will be realised within a specially constructed space in the gallery conceived by the Danish/Norwegian artist duo Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset. This structure will contain video works by the Swedish artists Annika Larsson and Anneé Olofsson.

The exhibition is curated by Magdalena Malm, Project Manager at IASPIS.

As a part of the project IASPIS will publish a book-like catalogue with texts by Sara Arrhenius, Daniel Birnbaum, Lars Bang Larsen and Magdalena Malm.

IASPIS in Stockholm has in a short time become an important place for discussions, events and presentations on current issues in contemporary art. In Venice this activity will continue in a foyer connected to the exhibition, designed by the Danish artist Jeppe Hein.
