P.A.R.T.S. is calling for new participants for the Studios Cycle 2022–24—a two-year Master program for young dance-makers & choreographers. Brussels, Belgium.
A two-year full time research program for dance-makers and choreographers, who want to develop their creative voice and practice in contemporary dance.
MA Studios offers:
–Space, time, focus in a communal and collaborative learning environment;
–Skills to develop, question and renew your craft in making dance;
–New perspectives, including from different disciplines and cultural backgrounds, to widen your vision;
–Theoretical tools to sharpen your articulation of ideas and practices;
–Coaching, exchange and dialogue to develop new insights about your own work and methodologies;
–A community of peers to share your research and working practices.
For whom
Dance-makers and choreographers who have obtained at least a BA degree in dance or choreography or another BA and equivalent professional experience in dance, with strong dance and performance skills and a creative practice that is rooted in studio work.
P.A.R.T.S. aims for a group of twelve participants between 21 and 27 years old.
What
The program develops along the following lines:
Self-directed research: Research and creation projects set up by the participants, in collaboration with your peers and possibly guests. Coaching by the pedagogical team and additional mentors. In the second year, students make their end-of-studies creation in an extended period of 10 weeks, which will be concluded with public presentations.
Movement research: Methods and strategies for generating, building and writing movement and development of a movement practice that embodies one’s artistic vision, via collective workshops and classes, individual practice and coaching.
Choreography masterclasses: Experienced choreographers and artists share their methodologies and reflections.
Theory seminars: From performance studies, philosophy and research methodology to writing and communication skills, including the writing and/or presentation of essays and papers. The second year includes a thesis relating to the research and questions of the final creation.
Cross-cultural thinking and creation: The program will include several artists and thinkers from other parts of the globe as well as an exchange project with Ecole des Sables in Senegal
Contextual labs: Short workshops, lectures etc. about feedback, documentation, management.
Optional: Independent theory and physical practice. Internships or professional projects up to five weeks/year.
On campus
–40 students of the P.A.R.T.S. BA program Training;
–Rosas dance company, choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and 20+ dancers;
–Ictus music ensemble and its students of the Advanced Master Contemporary Music;
–The artists in residence of workspacebrussels and Rosas;
–Platform K (inclusive dance company).
When
–First year: September 26, 2022–July 1, 2023
–Second year: September 4, 2023–end of September 2024
How much
–4500 EUR one-time registration fee (valid for two years)
–3500 EUR tuition fee for the first year (includes 1000 EUR for the expenses of the exchange project with Ecole des Sables)
–2500 EUR tuition fee for the second year
A limited number of scholarships will be available.
