The Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen awards around 40 fellowships each year in the fields of visual art, literature and composition. Since the foundation of the Künstlerdorf in 1989, a total of about 800 artists have been invited. The fellowships are linked to a residency in the Künstlerdorf of two to six months each. The program is open for international applications and without age restriction.
The Künstlerdorf is located in the remote area near the Dutch border. Its guiding principle is that of a social space that promotes cross-disciplinary artistic and personal exchange and development. Space for a wide variety of activities and engagement is provided by the community kitchen, garden, workshop, library, gallery, exhibition hall, and the surrounding area.
The Künstlerdorf Schöppingen puts value on collegial advice and the exchange of knowledge by providing a supportive and non-competitive setting. It encourages contributions to the temporary community of fellows and the local and regional environment. Contributions are voluntary and non-binding.
When: Applications for the following year can be submitted from June 20 to August 31, 2022. The application portal is open during this period.
