Call for applications to The Starr Fellowship at the Royal Academy Schools in London, October 2023 entry.
Part of the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts in central London, the Royal Academy Schools is seeking candidates for The Starr Fellowship. This artist residency provides a 26,000 GBP bursary for one US National a year with a studio in their contemporary art school, to support the development of their practise.
The Starr Fellow will also gain teaching experience by contributing to the RA Schools programme, to support postgraduate students. They have access to the RA Schools’ resources, including academic lectures and talks, technical facilities and expertise, and the RA’s extensive Collection, Library and Archive. At the end of the Fellowship, the artist is invited to exhibit their work.
The ideal Starr Fellow will:
–Have an independently established practice, and will have taken part in exhibitions or other projects.
–Have teaching experience and an MFA or similar (desirable), or want to extend their teaching experience
–Contribute to the critique of work by first-year students through attendance at group critiques.
–Need to demonstrate a desire to use the resources at the RA Schools to further their practice.
