We are welcoming applications for the newly created position of director of exhibitions and programmes who will join our leadership team. You will steer and work with a talented and ambitious team to fulfil the artistic and public engagement and outreach vision of ARoS.
With 20,700 square metres of space and 500,000 yearly visitors, ARoS is one of the largest art museums in Northern Europe and one of the most frequented art museums in Scandinavia.
As our director of exhibitions and programmes you will play an important role in the next phase of the development of ARoS, including expansion of both the physical space and the museum’s programme. We have high ambitions. ARoS aims to be one of the most innovative art museums on the world stage. This aspiration will be achieved by creating exciting and inspiring programmes, entering strategic collaborations with like-minded institutions, and being bold, adventurous, and sometimes maverick.
To be the right candidate you will already have a large international professional network, strong connections with artists, and a track record in leading artistic teams. You will know the business and management of art museums or aligned institutions. Ideally you have been a senior curator or director of a museum with exhibitions and collections of historic art, modern art, and contemporary art.
