The Association of Art Museum Curators has opened the call for nominations for the Awards for Excellence. The Awards honor curatorial achievements that create connections and engagements between nonprofit art organizations and the communities they serve. The Awards for Excellence will celebrate work that took place or was published between January 1, 2022 and December 1, 2022.
Nominations from outside the US are welcome and encouraged, as are self-nominations. The subject matter may cover any field and/or topic relevant to the curatorial field. The organization is specifically seeking nominations for original curatorial content that addresses issues in social justice, activism, diversity, access, equity, and inclusion.
The Awards this year will recognize achievement in the following categories: digital publication, digital exhibition, online program, non-catalog publication (print or online: essays, articles, brochures, blogs, magazines, journals, news stories), exhibition or installation (awarded by art organization operating budget category), publication* (awarded by art organization operating budget category). Nominate today!
The deadline to nominate is December 1, 2022, at 12pm ET. Awards will be announced in May 2023, during the Art Curators Conference. Only current AAMC members can nominate, update your membership today to participate.
*Publication nominations require mailed copies of the hard copy of the nominated work to the three to five juror addresses that are provided after the nomination is complete. You will not receive these addresses until you fully complete your nomination, so do not delay. All mailed material should be sent no later than November 15, and are to be delivered by November 30, and the nominee is responsible for all charges, such as customs and shipping.
